Somehow, biological diseases can turn into mental illnesses. The biology of your body is causing the unease in your mind. Do not fear, we will treat the biology.

Nobody warns you about the mental repercussions. You’re still a child. How could you possibly care?

They assume that you won’t stand in dressing rooms looking at yourself in the mirror, imagining a round womb under your clothing. Or that every time you do it, you feel shame not only that it may never happen but also at the fact that you desperately want it to happen eventually.

They assume that conversations won’t come up in passing with you and your friends imagining the future together. Them saying “when I have kids” as you sit quietly smiling. Admiring their ability to let it slip off the tongue without a second thought.

There is a certain power of reflection that comes with disease. This reflective power, if you let it, can turn disease into illness.

If only you had known that infertility was going to affect you the most. If only you had had the chance to ask more.
